A Satirical Take on a Real Struggle

Hi, I’m Shane, a lifelong Calgary resident, and I’m on a mission to buy my first home. Like many people, homeownership has always felt like an unattainable dream — especially in today’s market. But I believe owning my own home will provide me with stability, freedom, and the opportunity to build a future here in Calgary.

In my work in social services, I help provide financial support to clients facing evictions and arrears, and I’m deeply committed to supporting my community. Through my work, I’ve seen the struggles many people face when it comes to securing stable housing, and it’s motivated me even more to pursue a home of my own.

Unfortunately, the rising costs of living and lack of financial support have made it difficult to save enough to get there. That's why I’ve launched this campaign — to help turn that dream into reality with a little help from my friends, family, and community.

Every donation, big or small, will directly contribute to the down payment on my first home. Your support means more than just a financial contribution; it means I can start this new chapter in life, knowing that I have the backing of the people who believe in me.
